Songsmith

Songsmith is an application that allows you to record your voice and will automatically play a background tune that will constantly be adapting to the way you sing. The program does this by analysing the frequencies of your voice and choosing the correct chords. The utility is very easy to use: you just have to click on the button called [New Song] and select one of the thirty music styles, including hip hop, jazz, country, rock, pop and reggae. Finally, press the red button to start the recording.

Songsmith will constantly be adapting to the tone of your voice, it will change the chords and the rhythm of the music. After you stopped the recording, you will be able to change the genre of the melody without having to do everything again. This allows you to listen to different versions of your song. You can also use musical instruments instead of singing, and the application will work in the same way. Once you have finished your melody, you can save it in a MIDI, WMA or WAV format, or you can send it straight to Windows Movie Maker so that you can edit it even more.
